We are seeking a motivated, flexible and team-oriented Mid-Level Planning Associate to join the Skeo team in the San Francisco Bay Area or our headquarters office in Charlottesville, VA. A primary responsibility will be leading and supporting community planning projects in a team setting. Focus areas include environmental justice, watershed planning, green infrastructure and brownfield reuse. Responsibilities will include project management, community engagement, land use planning, map development, conceptual site design, coordinating with government agencies and community organizations, and developing final documents. Ideal candidates will have exceptional communications skills, experience organizing and managing multi-faceted projects, interest in community engagement, and willingness to travel for 18 or more trips per year at various locations throughout the U.S. The selected candidate will also provide support to a range of company projects that may include guidance and document development, GIS analysis and map development, graphic design, and community engagement, depending upon skill set.
 
This is a fulltime position (approximately 40 hours/week) eligible for full benefits (including health, dental and life insurance, paid time off, and 401k participation with an employer match). Depending on the location of the selected applicant, this will be a telework position in the San Francisco Bay Area or located at the headquarters office in Charlottesville, VA. Throughout the term of employment, both employee and employer will retain the right to terminate employment in accordance with state law.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in planning, landscape architecture or related field.
  • At least three years of experience organizing or managing multi-faceted projects.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Arc GIS and InDesign programs.
  • Community engagement or facilitation experience.
  • Located in the San Francisco Bay Area or near Charlottesville, VA.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong graphic design skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Previous experience working with government agencies or community organizations.
  • Previous experience working with ethnically diverse and/or economically disadvantaged communities.
  • Understanding of environmental justice and equity principles.
  • Experience in watershed planning, green infrastructure, or brownfield reuse.
  • Willingness to travel for 18 or more trips per year throughout the United States.
  • Spanish bilingual.
