Position for Associate

Skeo Solutions is an employee-focused consulting firm providing innovative, collaborative and multidisciplinary solutions to complex and pressing issues in environmental stewardship, social equity and economic opportunity.

Skeo Solutions is seeking a motivated, energetic, earnest and socially-conscious associate with an undergraduate degree to join our team on a full-time basis, (or part-time with the intent of transitioning to full time as soon as scheduling permits). Candidates should demonstrate they are detail-oriented, highly responsive and capable of supporting several projects at one time. A primary responsibility will be coordinating with federal clients to provide technical assistance to communities dealing with environmental challenges.

Ideal candidates for this entry-level position will have a background in land-use planning or landscape architecture, and strong writing and research skills. Applicants should be proficient with Microsoft Office programs,  GIS, and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with graphic design is a plus. Applicants should be able to efficiently multi-task, work effectively on a team, maintain a positive attitude and have excellent communication skills. While associates are expected to work fulltime (40 hours a week), there are times when it may be necessary to work more than 40 hours per week under tight deadlines. Associates are eligible for full benefits (including health, dental and life insurance, paid time off, and 401k participation with an employer match). Applicants must be willing to travel for 20 or more trips per year to various locations throughout the United States.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in land-use planning or landscape architecture.
  • Experience with GIS and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, including cross-cultural communication.
  • Previous experience working with economically disadvantaged and/or racially/ethnically diverse communities.
  • Charlottesville, VA, area resident or willing to relocate.
  • Willing to travel for 20+ trips per year throughout the United States.

Advantageous Qualifications:

  • Experience with facilitation and community-based planning.
  • Experience with graphic design.
  • Proficiency speaking and writing in a second language beyond English, especially Spanish.
  • Ability to start within two weeks after hiring.

Please submit required application materials by March 31, 2020. Interviews are expected to begin April 8, 2020, with a hiring decision made by May 1, 2020. In addition to taking part in interviews, candidates will be asked to demonstrate their abilities to perform the required work by completing skill exercises. All employment decisions are made on a non-discriminatory basis, and without regard to sex, race, color, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, marital status, pregnancy or maternity, citizenship, national origin, or any other status protected by applicable law. Persons of color are strongly encouraged to apply.
