Mid-level Environmental/Community Initiatives Project Managers 

Skeo Solutions is an employee-focused consulting firm providing innovative, collaborative and multidisciplinary solutions to complex and pressing issues in environmental stewardship, social equity and economic opportunity. 

We are seeking motivated, energetic and earnest persons with at least a bachelor’s degree or higher to join our team on a full-time basis, with options ranging from 30 to 40 hours per week. Location is flexible, but reliable internet connection and being within two hours of an airport are required. Skeo expects candidates will support a wide range of activities that are likely to include but not be limited to coordinating, managing and supporting multiple community involvement projects. Projects will primarily be undertaken as part of efforts by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to address contaminated sites and support communities in addressing a range of concerns. Candidates will be expected to develop and implement project plans, assemble and oversee project teams, and ensure team effectiveness in the field. Candidates will also be expected to directly support project-related work. Related support may include: 

  • Developing project work plans and identifying project teams.  

  • Scheduling, participating in and leading regular meetings (in person and virtual) with community members, and federal, state, tribal and local agencies. 

  • Coordinating and providing logistics support for in-person and virtual meetings, workshops or trainings involving community members and agencies. 

  • Coordinating, developing and delivering related presentations and/or community outreach materials. 

  • Drafting various reports, fact sheets or memos, including professionally laid out reports. 

  • Maintaining responsive client coordination  

  • Managing project budgets and reporting updates 

Candidates should demonstrate they are detail-oriented and capable of gracefully and professionally handling high stress situations with a wide range of stakeholders. Candidates should have a calming and supportive disposition, be highly responsive and be capable of supporting several projects at one time. Ideal candidates for this mid-level position will have a high degree of familiarity or understanding of government programs associated with contaminated waste, ideally Superfund, or other environmental programs in addition to high-quality writing and research skills. In addition, ideal candidates will have extensive experience working with communities and/or a wide range of communities, especially disadvantaged communities dealing with contaminated or hazardous waste sites or other environmental challenges. Candidates should be capable of working independently but also be team-oriented and able to align work practices with contract and company protocols. Applicants should be proficient with Microsoft Office programs. Experience with GIS, graphic design, and Adobe Creative Suite software are a plus. Applicants should be able to multi-task, lead and work effectively on multiple teams, maintain a positive attitude and have excellent communication skills. Applicants must be willing to travel for 10 or more trips per year at various locations throughout the United States. Some travel locations may be remote. Trip length is variable, but typically 2-4 days. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher 

  • Willing to travel for 10+ trips per year throughout the United States. Trips may require travel to remote locations and extended stays.  

  • Five-years or more experience leading teams, preferably in support of disadvantaged communities dealing with contaminated or hazardous waste sites, or other environmental challenges. 

  • Familiarity or understanding of government programs associated with contaminated waste, ideally Superfund, and other environmental programs. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. 

  • Exceptional project management and communication skills 

  • Community engagement experience   

Advantageous Qualifications: 

  • Degree or degrees in anthropology, sociology, government, political science, environmental studies or equivalent, environmental science, environmental engineering, or land use planning. 

  • Experience with government contracting. 

  • Ability to start, full-time, within two weeks after hiring. 

  • Experience with GIS, graphic design, and Adobe Creative Suite. 

  • Bi-lingual speaker. 

  • Professional or personal experience working closely with communities of color and/or Tribal communities.  

  • Can work from a home office.
